Media Shutdown/ Blackout Jan 30th 2018

The MEDIA wants to ensure you are in darkness because the current shutdown hasn’t been addressed, well you know it’s the government (Shinda Hapo).
1. One fact, the Media is DIVIDED, STANDARD Group operates differently from NTV & Citizen TV. That’s why after the Migration to the Digital Platform, Standard group removed their signals from ADN and even went ahead and bought Bamba TV, removed Citizen Tv and NTV. If you noticed, the shutdown yesterday affected them (NTV & Citizen) first. They don’t broadcast from the same place.

2. Article 19 Regional Director Mr. Henry O. Maina who earns more than 2.6 Million Salary hasn’t said a thing concerning the same and he’s there always doing nothing. Unless you go to a Journalism class, then you’ll probably here about Article 19.

– The Media Owners, Editors Guild, Kenya Journalist Union (KUJ), and everyone else hasn’t said a thing. I mean, no statement from them. Ask yourself why? I am not here to answer question for I too don’t have facts on what happened.
3. The same Media stations that were kicked out in a NASA briefing last year are the same ones that the NASA Principal  are fighting for them to cover their event. So truth be told, NASA aren’t friends of the media, not the Governement, but on certain situations where the Media will gain something, they incline themselves to a certain political outfit. (I could be lying, but basically this is what happens)
Bottom-line is, the media isn’t supposed to have a cozy relationship with the Government especially it being a watchdog and called the Fourth Estate.
So as common mwananchi, the Media wants to oppress you and make you think that the Govt through the CA is the worst party here, yet they all are the same. None of the them is good here, i.e The Govt & The Media at Large.
Back to memory lane, remember the first swearing in of Hon Raila Odinga was supposed to take place during the swearing of Uhuru Kenyatta? Did you read a memo to the Media Houses cautioning them not to broadcast live any political event? No you don’t coz you don’t care, but yesterday action is fresh in your memory.
NASA InviteBut can you recall that the media did complied by not giving Hon Raila Live broadcast during his purported swearing in the same day #Nasamemorial #Jacaranda, check 28th/29th Nov Tweets.
Why didn’t the media do a split screen to show us what was happening in #JACARANDA & #Kasarani as they normally do when there are two major Political events?
Infact to make it even better or worse, on 22//11/2017 Director General Dr. Wangusi of the Communication Authority (CA) was on TV (NTV) to defend that move. Click here to watch that clip on what they meant by “Ban”. Take note of the 7 Seconds Delay on Live Broadcast rules/regulations.
At the news, they just gave him like 15 Secs of mention in passing that evening? They only reported that he had postponed the swearing in to 12/12.
The Social Media covered the event live under the hashtag #Jacaranda (Check 28th/29th Nov Tweets under that Hash tag) but no Mainstream showed even a thing about it but during their evening news they just mentioned in passing.
Now, my position that the MEDIA FRATERNITY could possibly know what they did wrong and hence can’t issue any statement condemning the acts carried out by the CA as they reported by them.
However, I personally condemn the threats issued to the Nation Media Journalist Justus Wanga for his publication on the Nation Newspaper by the DP guy.
The Office of the Deputy President William Ruto went overboard, but on the Media shutdown. The Government and the Media are all evil, none is better off.
I rest my case.
