God forgives sin but may not lift the consequences

Let’s take a look into this story of King David and Solomon.
Jesse the father of King David. David and Uriah’s wife Bathsheba were the father and mother of Solomon. Mat 1:6  (GW)

2nd Samuel 11 & 12:- King David commits Adultery with Uriah wife and she get pregnant, The Bible is silent on what God said on that.

david-and-bathshebaKing David goes ahead and asks Joab to put Uriah at the place where he knew the experienced (Ammonites) warriors were so that he could be killed.
David’s evil act of planning to kill Uriah didn’t please God.
God sents Nathan to King David with a parable of a rich man and a poor man where a rich man spared one of his many flocks and takes the only female lamb the poor man had so as to prepare a meal for the traveler/Guest 2nd Sam 12:1-6.
David response after the parable was that the rich man for his unfairness should pay four (4) times for the injustice he had done towards the poor man, only to be told that he was the rich man in the parable i.e. for stealing Uriah’s Wife.
Nathan continues, That because of the Evil he (King David) had done, 2nd Sam 12:13 Jehovah has put away his sins and he shall not die as he was supposed to. However, to pay for his sins, the Child that was to be born Must Die.
On hearing that, David, fasted, Prayed, Pleaded, layed on the earth, but God would not listen that and on the 7th day the Child dies.

King David stops fasting and praying because there was nothing much he could do to bring back the dead baby.
He lays with Bathsheba (who is still referred to Uriah’s Wife in Mat 1:6) who conceives and guess what, she bears a child and King David names Him SOLOMON (and the LORD loved him) 2nd Sam 12:24.

I have no idea how God Loves and forgives, but God forgives him, allows him to have another child whom He loved.

#Conclusion

Who would have thought that King David having procured the Death of Uriah to get Bathsheba for Himself would bring about :-

  • – The Wisest Man on Earth’s History
  • – The Richest man on Earth
  • – Built the House of the Lord etc in 2 Chronicles 8-9
  • – The one to succeed King David in Israel?

God overlooked all that David had done and He blessed Him.

That leaves me with the a conclusion that God Forgives and may not lift the consequences however, in Exodus 33:19 He says, ‘…I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.’

Take Note:- King Saul also (1st Sam 18:12) Had tried to Kill David but Jehovah was with Him.

The Bible is an interesting book to read. Next post will be on Jeremiah 29:11
I will be focusing on what the Bible means when it talked of a Plan and a Future for us.
